Project Description

The Master of Digital Media (MDM) program is a one-year graduate program designed for forward-thinking creators and innovators shaping the future of digital media. While I supported marketing for both undergraduate and graduate programs, this project focused heavily on elevating and promoting MDM due to its accelerated format and competitive positioning.

I contributed to a comprehensive visual refresh of the program’s branding, designing new promotional assets including program booklets, print materials, and digital campaigns. In addition to static design, I worked on multiple animation and motion graphics projects for large-format screens throughout The Creative School and for social media, helping bring the program to life across high-visibility touchpoints. I also assisted with and participated in photoshoots, supporting content creation to ensure visuals felt authentic, polished, and aligned with the program’s narrative.

Goals & Constraints

  • Appeal to graduate-level students and industry-focused creators

  • Clearly communicate the value of a one-year master’s program

  • Highlight alumni projects, outcomes, and career opportunities

  • Design assets for both large-format digital displays and social platforms

  • Maintain consistency with TMU and The Creative School brand guidelines

Strategy

I focused on clarity, storytelling, and outcomes-driven design across both static and motion-based assets. Visuals emphasized real student work, alumni success, and industry relevance to address skepticism around the value of a one-year graduate program. Motion graphics and screen-based content were designed to be bold, concise, and eye-catching in high-traffic campus environments, while social assets reinforced the same messaging in a more dynamic, platform-appropriate format.

By collaborating closely with program directors and the marketing team, I ensured all assets balanced creativity with credibility, serving as both effective recruitment tools and professional internal resources.

Flyer Creation

Designed program marketing flyers highlighting The Creative School’s media programs for prospective student engagement.

I created flyers for program marketing that students could pick up to browse information about the programs. While The Creative School offers approximately 15 undergraduate and 12 graduate programs, these materials were designed specifically to highlight the media programs.

Marketing Collateral
Designed multi-channel marketing collateral across print, web, and social media, with involvement in content creation and photoshoot direction.

Produced multi-channel marketing collateral across print and digital, including posters, stand-up displays, postcards, web banner ads, and social media assets. In addition to design, I supported content creation and assisted with creative direction for photoshoots used as stock imagery.

Design Process

Created a fully illustrated holiday animation and email assets for The Creative School’s Christmas campaign, designed and animated from scratch.

This project was a more playful creative assignment. While I had previously worked on motion graphics for marketing assets, this holiday project was specifically assigned to me for the Christmas campaign. I designed the Christmas card for students along with all related email assets and created an illustrated animation video for The Creative School, drawn entirely from scratch. The animation features custom gifts and visual elements that represent and celebrate the spirit of The Creative School.

Key Takeaways

  • Motion and animation are powerful tools for capturing attention in physical spaces

  • Combining static, motion, and photography creates a more cohesive brand story

  • Outcomes-focused storytelling helps build trust with prospective graduate students

  • Hands-on collaboration across disciplines leads to stronger, more authentic content
